Balancing

What is “balancing”?

By balancing we mean the equal distribution of the weight on each wheel individually, ensuring that no vibrations are created at each rotation. It must be done after every tyre change or repair.

If the tyres are not balanced, they cause vibrations when the car is moving at a certain speed. This contributes to the rapid wear of both the tyres and the suspension system of the car. The occurrence of vibration is the main reason to get your vehicle balanced.

Wheels exhibit two types of imbalance, static and dynamic.

  • Static is created when the rolling of the wheel is not smooth, presenting an up and down motion.
  • Dynamic is created when the weight is unequal on both sides, presenting a wheel shake.

The technician, in order to bring the wheels back into balance, places them on a balancing machine. . There the wheel is turned to better locate the layout points. Under the guidance of the machine, the technician understands where the counterweight should be placed in order to compensate for the imbalance in weight.

The starter does not wear out or get damaged as often, but it also needs attention. Our expert auto repair shop specializes in repairing, rebuilding, selling and installing starter motors for cars of every make and technology. The starters we fit to cars are the ones specified by the manufacturer for each model. At reasonable and affordable prices. You should have the dynamo serviced every 60,000 km and the starter serviced every 50,000 km to ensure that no problems arise that can bring your vehicle to a standstill.

What causes the lack of balance?

Unbalanced wheels can be caused by poor road construction, as well as high speeds or a combination of the two.

Main causes, in more detail:

  • If the vehicle is not used for a long period of time, then unevenness occurs temporarily, which balances out after a certain mileage
  • If a vehicle remains stationary for several days, then its temperature changes and this causes unevenness in its tyres
  • Tyres and rims go together, so if the rim goes wrong, the tyre goes wrong too
  • Bad centring in the tapered bolts
  • Specific wear on the tread due to sudden braking
  • Unbalanced central axle

Why is wheel balancing necessary?

  • To prevent rapid tyre wear
  • Increased mileage
  • Steering wheel shaking does not occur even at high speeds
  • Increased traction at high speeds resulting in safety and comfort
  • A generally pleasant ride is ensured
